The London Business School can be found in the University of London in the United Kingdom and offers postgraduate degree courses in finance and management as well as MBA courses and business executive non degree courses. The school was established in 1965 and is located in the Regents Park area of London and although part of the University of London, it has some autonomy as well.
Currently around 800 students each year from 70 different countries attend the school and graduate. In fact today over 80% of all students and faculty members who attend this school come from outside the United Kingdom. There are now over 6,000 business executives who attend the school each year to take part in the courses available for them. Over the years since it was first set up the school has been ranked as one of the best business schools to be found in the world today, and is in fact committed to become the most eminent of them all.
The flagship course that this particular school has to offer its students is the 2 year MBA (Master of Business Administration) Degree program. When attending this course a student is required to take the set of core courses for the program and then elect to take other courses from the 70 elective ones that are available. The main core courses that a student will need to take as part of this degree program are as follows:-
1. Finance 2. Strategy 3. Marketing 4. Managerial Economics 5. Management Accounting 6. Operations Management 7. Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility 8. Managing Organizational Behavior
The actual costs for a person to take this program and the Executive MBA program as well, will cost roughly £42,000 (British Sterling Pound) and on top of this a student will also need to supply their own living expenses.. The many students who attend this program are often provided with sponsorship by their employer, or will take full advantage of different kinds of scholarships and bank loan schemes that they are offered.
But students who attend the London Business School in order to gain their MBA degree will also have to take a course in a second languagel, which should not be English.
However, as well as offering students a full time MBA degree program the London Business School also has the facilities to offer students a part time executive MBA degree program as well. This particular program takes between 16 and 20 months to complete instead of the 2 years for the full time course.
